Domain Name Help Topics
Selecting A Domain Name
Relevancy. The domain name you select for your website should include the words (keywords) pertaining to your business's key offerings or products in order to achieve the best search engine results. For example EpistensBakery.com is fine but EpistensBagleBakery.com is better because it further defines your main business activity.
Hyphens. Try not to use of a hyphen (-) as hyphens do not appear to be effective with search engines.
Example: Miami-Beach-Bikini-Team.com
Personal Names. Avoid using a personal name.
Example: With VeronicaDeliciousCandies.com, the name Veronica in this example may hide the domain name from the search engines ability to find relevant information during a potential clients search request.
Avoid Hard To Spell Names. Try not to use a word that is not easy to spell. People may not freely type these words into a search engine or online directory.
Best Name Endings. Use one of these.
.com is used to describe a e-commerce site or organization engaged in product sales.
.net is used for information sites or when the .com name you want is taken
.org is used for clubs, non commercial sites, educational sites, non-profit organizations, churches, etc.
